A Personal Revelation: Addressing the Shadow in Everyday Life
Recently, I confronted a new facet of my Shadow, one that had eluded me until then – my aversion to clutter, mirroring a similar trait in my husband. Through a method of self-reflection involving writing down everything I disliked about him and then substituting his name with my own, I stumbled upon a revelation.
I recalled a childhood memory where my mother criticized me for having messy drawers, labeling me with hurtful names. In response, I stubbornly decided to embody the very qualities she scorned. It was a coping mechanism, my way of retaliating against her judgments.
Sitting with this revelation for over three hours on a Sunday morning, I untangled the memory and the stubbornness it had instilled in me.
