My second coffee chat was with Ian Capon from the UK, someone I met back in 2024 through the Hearties Business Membership. From the very first time we connected in a breakout room, Ian had this remarkable gift of seeing people’s strengths and sharing it with them in such a way that leaves a lasting impact.
I still remember his words when we first met: “Mariam, you need to be on TV!” For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to be an actress. Ian’s words rekindled that belief in myself, reminding me of the power I have to speak and inspire. And now, in 2024, this dream of live speaking—both in-person and online—is starting to manifest. His confidence in me helped me own my goal of being on stage and in the spotlight, and our chat reflected just how aligned I am with this vision.
Our coffee chat was a beautiful exchange of energy, with the same intention I have for all these chats: to build meaningful relationships with like-minded souls who support each other’s growth. What truly amazed me about Ian was the seamless flow of our conversation—a perfect dance of masculine and feminine energy, giving and receiving in such a balanced way. It felt natural and effortless. Unlike my first coffee chat, where I felt energetically drained and disconnected afterward, this time, I felt energized and grounded. Ian helped me understand why. He reminded me of the importance of receiving before responding, of holding space and allowing the conversation to come to me. That simple shift made all the difference.
I can’t express enough how valuable these coffee chats are turning out to be. Honestly, this experience has been more enriching than any course I could invest in. There’s something about real conversations and genuine human connection that teaches you in ways nothing else can. I’m beyond grateful for Kaley Chu’s inspiration and for gifting me the resources that sparked this journey.
One of the most powerful aspects of our chat was a topic I hadn’t previously addressed: being a Muslim woman and having a conversation with, or even working with, a male coach. I told Ian how I’ve often struggled with that dynamic in the past, feeling hesitant or cautious. But in our conversation, it felt like we transcended gender entirely. It wasn’t about male or female energy; it was about two souls—two beings of light—connecting on a deeper level. It was pure spirit-to-spirit interaction, and that felt incredibly freeing and profound.
At one point, I asked Ian about the relationship we were leaving this call with. If we are two souls connecting beyond the physical, beyond gender, what did he see? His response stayed with me: “I see you as light.” Hearing that touched me deeply because as a lightworker, that’s exactly what I strive to be—a light, an inspiration in the lives of others. It was a beautiful confirmation that I am on the right path.
There were so many golden nuggets in this conversation that I’m still processing. I’m proud of myself for taking action, for showing up, and for leaning into this challenge with an open heart. I feel like this journey is going to keep surprising me with deeper lessons, connections, and opportunities to grow.
And I am so ready for it all.
